Sunday, October 13, 2019 pm

Sunday, October 13, 2019 pm Sunset 6:31 pm Hunting closes 7:01 pm. Temperature 39 degrees. Mostly cloudy. Wind: W-NW 10-15 mph. We drove from Copper this morning to Mankato to celebrate Heidi’s grandmother and great aunts birth day. We got back much later than I had hoped. I decided to give Arlie’s food plot ladder stand a try. On my way in I kicked
Up a doe and fawn that were by the Apple tree, a small buck in the creek bottom and then 4 more tails took off to the east. Ugh. I was settled a ready to go by 5:00 pm. Of course, I didn’t see anything while I was in the stand. I did kick up a big deer that was right near the Apple Tree when I was on my way in. I pulled the SD card and a nice 2 1/2 year old 8 pointer was on the camera and had walked right by the AT stand while I was at Arlie’s. It was not a buck I would have shot, but it still would have been nice to see and have some action. Totals: 0 deer.

Saturday, October 12, 2019 am

Saturday, October 12, 2019 am. Sunrise: 7:14 am. Hunting opens: 6:44 am. Temperature 40degrees. Mostly sunny. Wind: W-SW 20-25 mph.  We drove down to Copper Creek last night and I had to get out for my first Wisconsin hunt. I decided to head across the street to the newly repositioned ladder stand in the valley. I couldn’t hunt the south side of the property, because there has been so much rain and the valley floor is so saturated I was afraid I would get the ATV stuck. At 8:20 am, I had just reached over to grab my rattling pack rack and I turned back to my right and there was a small doe 20 yards away to the north of me. I have no idea how she got there. She ended up taking off towards the north. She was in the brush so I had no shot. Totals: 1 deer, 1 doe

Sunday, October 6, 2019 am

Sunday, October 6, 2019 am. Sunrise: 7:14 am. Hunting opens: 6:44 am. Temperature 46 degrees. Mostly sunny. Wind: W-SW 8-10 mph. This morning, I decided to give the new VAT 3.0 ladder stand a try. Adam went over to the Muddy Ladder stand. At 7:00 am, I looked over to the NW, and a small doe had walked out into the plot. She fed for a bit and the walked down the trail to the east. She was within range initially, but I needed to have cleared the shooting lane a bit better. She did walk down the trail but was 35 yards away and moving. That was it. Totals: Bob 1 deer, 1 doe.
