Thursday, December 26, 2013 pm. Sunset: 4:35 pm. Hunting closes: 5:05 pm. Temperature: 24 degrees. Mostly cloudy. Light snow. Wind: NW 3-5 mph. After a great first Christmas with Charley, my wife agreed to watch her tonight so I could hunt. The obvious choice was the stump blind. As I was walking down the sledding hill, I kicked out 4 doe that were already out feeding. They took off to the east/northeast. I hoped they would come back before the end of shooting light. With 10 minutes of light left, I saw 2 does come from the north and enter into the border patrol food plot. With about 5 minutes left, they came across the bridge and came into the the stump food plot. 5 more does and fawns joined them. I had a big doe at 8 yards to the SE of me but it was quartering yowards me and it was too dark. Still fun to have some action. Totals: Bob- 7 deer. 7 does and fawns.

Saturday, December 21, 2013 pm. Sunset: 4:34 pm. Hunting closes: 5:04 pm. Temperature: 19 degrees. Wind: N-NW 5-10 mph. Mostly cloudy. I decided tonight to give the stump blind a try. I was up and in at 3:15 pm. Nothing was happening until 10 minutes before closing when I looked to the north east and saw 4 deer with one being a small 3 pointer. They mostly stayed out of range, but the buck did come to 15 yards but was too small, illegal to shoot, and I didn't have the window open that he was in front of. Still fun to see. At 5:00 pm, two does came in from the NW. The biggest doe got to about 10 yards away, but again I didn't have the right window open and she was quartering towards me anyways. Right as I was packing up, another doe came in from the NW. It was too far and after legal shooting light anyways. Totals: Bob- 7 deer. 1 small buck.
